How to Green Your Home: Home Energy Saving Tips

There are many simple things you can do to save money on your energy bills. If we insulated our houses, turned off lights and appliances after use and turned down the thermostat a degree or two, then we would save ourselves and the environment a lot of bother. The average British home could save £280, and, collectively, we could save the environment more than 50 million tonnes of CO2. That equates to switching off 1/3 of the UK’s coal and gas power stations.

Another move you could take is to solar panel your house. They’re fairly pricey to install, but they’d cover around 3/4s of your household’s electrical needs, so if you’re in it for the long run then solar panels will eventually save you big money. On top of that, there’s the 1 tonne of CO2 spared every year. As part of your solar panelled operation, be sure to include a gate. They’re cheaper to install than an electric gate, free to run and don’t damage the environment.
